You need to complete genre research for your music videos.
You can either mind map ideas - there are a number of online programmes for this, or you could do it by hand and photograph/upload to your blog. Alternatively, create a mood board of images for each genre accompanied by a write up of common themes and genre codes and conventions. You could take single images and analyse the representation in them with a focus on genre conventions. Or you could find a completely different way to explore it. Work must be uploaded to your blog ready for next lesson. You will also need to justify which genre you want to work in and why.
You should look at the record industry. This can be done in exactly the same way as you researched magazine institutions or prepared film industries for your exam. you should have an understanding of both major and independent record labels. Again, you need to look closely at who you would want your artist to be signed with and explain why.
Finally compile a timeline of the music video with key dates highlighted, for example the first music video, advent of MTV etc...
For your home learning you should be looking for an unsigned artist to use.

Copyright-free Music
For those of you who want to use unsigned artists/copyright free music here is a list of websites that might be useful.
I will add to this as so do keep checking back.
http://www.norfolkgigguide.com/ - handy for finding local artists.
http://creativecommons.org/legalmusicforvideos - explains about Creative Commons licances and directs you to several useful sites.
http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/ - royalty free music listed by genre and 'feel'!
http://socialtimes.com/royalty-free-music_b37470 - links to 10 royalty free music sites.
http://www.edp24.co.uk/what-s-on/rock_bodham_promises_to_be_bigger_and_better_for_2014_1_3666296 - info on the Rock Bodham mini-festival on the 26th/27th July
Copyright and Copyright Friendly Music and Sound
This is the link to the Intellectual Copyright Office, with everything you need to know but were afraid to ask on copyright law. If you have trouble sleeping anytime, I highly recommend giving it a read.
This is only the link to the FAQs - if you don't find the answers you need there then have a look on the rest of the site, but be warned, it's all pretty heavy and dull!
You might also want to refer to the link in your research, especially if copyright restrictions informed your decision about your choice of artist. Remember though; anything just copied and pasted is not worth marks, however, copied and pasted and then with notes added will gain you something (depending, of course, on the quality of the work).
IPO FAQs
Have also found another site with loads of links to copyright friendly music which might be worth a look.
Copyright Friendly Music and Sound.
There is still the option of finding an existing artist and asking for permission to use one of their tracks. With that in mind the links below may be of interest. You've already seen videos by Dave and Bethan, Jesse I saw perform in Thriller Live this week and has the most fantastic voice. By the looks of things he has some original stuff he wrote with his band The Quotes which may or may not suit. Ideally you should be contacting the artists yourself, however, if you wanted to use anything by either Dave Giles of Bethan Leadley I am happy to email on your behalf if you think it might work in your favour...
Dave Giles
Musical Bethan
The Quotes - Jesse Smith
And finally some of the artists from the Rock Assembly...
