Independent Tasks for DLD 12th January

Year 12.

Continue working on research and planning tasks. All of you have work you can be doing!

Remember, I am expecting to see analysis of three existing magazine covers this Friday so, if that is something you are missing, these should be a priority. After that, look back at the deadlines for this half term - what can you get ahead on? Look at the suggested task list below - is there anything on there you haven't done? If you have done everything on the list look for other blogs - here, here or here, for example - and see what other tasks they have. Note - THIS and THIS blog have some excellent research examples.

Task list;
Research into institution - who would produce your magazine and why?
Image manipulation of test shots with an explanation of what you were aiming for.
Draft layouts - either hand drawn or on computer.
Audience profiling - who is your magazine for? How will you engage their interest?
Genre research - what genre of music is your magazine? How will images and fonts used reflect this?
Character creation - who is your cover star? Create a back story which will help justify photo choices and generate article copy.
EVALUATIONS!!!

The only task you won't be able to do is your cover, contents and double page spread. Nothing else requires special access to the Macs or for me to be in the building. Despite what some of you have told your form tutors!!!

Year 13

You should each have something to be getting on with - either finishing research and planning for your music video/digipak/poster or working on evaluations. I suspect none of you have completed a fully storyboard for your video. This should therefore be a priority! Again, if you have done all the suggested tasks look for example blogs to inspire you. Blogs such as Caitlin's, this one, this one or this one are all worth a look.

Digipak and Poster Analysis Task

Complete initial analysis on digipaks and posters - look for codes and conventions, how are they put together, what features do they have, how do they serve to promote the artist, what is the point of them?

Links for blog posts which may help;

http://tnhamedia.blogspot.co.uk/2015/02/g324-digipak-design-task.html

You don't, at this stage, need to focus on a specific artist or genre, the purpose of this initial research is to show you understand the 'rules'. Once you have settled on genre and artist for your music video you will have to opportunity to look closely at representation etc.

Further items to do;

Set up year 13 blog and email c.cowles@tnha.org.uk the link.
Follow TNHAMedia blog.
Research artist and music.
Complete work set on previous two blogs and submit by Monday 18th July.

Cover Lesson 11/7/16

Finish research into pre Postmodernist theory. You should aim to have about one PowerPoint slide of notes on each theorist covered last lesson. All you need is to be able to show an understanding of how postmodernism is a response to their theories.

Continue research into genres - go over the work set in the post below and make sure it is done. You should also review past examples of music videos and identify what to and what not to dos.

Finally conduct research into songs and artists. You can use sound cloud for some of this but should also consider YouTube and social networks.

If you need anymore to be getting on with, begin looking at digipaks and posters.

Coursework research and planning must be uploaded onto your blog. Exam research should be emailed to me.
